The theme for this week's monsters was "Electricity Users", so I once again tried to take two different spins on it! Below we have two design's I've named a "Shockupine" and a "Pack Rat Engineer"
For the Shockupine, my mind immediately went to the concept of lightning rods and arcing electricity, and how the quills of a spiny animal like the porcupine could be used and exaggerated for that. Additionally, I added webbing between the quills to add some odd, reptilian aesthetic aspects into it, to make it feel a bit more distant in biology from just a normal porcupine.
The first two things I think of when I think of "electricity users" are literal electricity shooting monsters, or users of technology. Anthropomorphic rats are sometimes seen as an industrious or mechanically oriented archetype in fiction, such as with Skaven in the Warhammer series, but most of the time with the caveat of having somewhat monstrous features or being generally dirty. I wanted to keep aspects of these, but not lean too heavily into them, so I kept things like baggy clothes, an overweight body type, and gangly feet, but strayed away from things like matted fur or crooked teeth. Overall the vibe I was going for was a greasy, hard working, but not overly disgusting mechanic, like you might find in a car shop after a hard day of work.
