To start this week I finalized the rig using similar techniques to my swordswoman character, but for this character the poly count was natually lower, leading to some trouble areas. The shoulders in particular were looking jagged during articulation, so I doubled the poly count on them in specific to help the issue.
Now the posing was looking far more natural.
Next I added facial controller bones to the cheeks, lip corners, nose, and top and bottom left/right lips, with some additional bones added to the tongue later. This allows me to freely pose the mouth.
And with some texturing, he finally comes alive! I'm going to do some more PBR work on his mask to make it pop, but for now he's mostly done.
There will hopefully be some animations for him next week!
