Aurora V2: 9 Weeks of Work in 1

So, for this week's project, I decided to remake my first modeling project in blender to see how far I've progressed! I just used my base mesh model and stole the head from my other dog model, adjusted the proportions, extruded and edited, and used curve paths for the hair, and even took the ears from the original model, because they were my favorite part of the original!

And bang! In just a few hours, a base for the new version!

I then just copied the rig from my other model and got it attached pretty quick. Super rough and needed to be cleaned up with manual weighting.

Before that though, I cleaned up the details on the model and fleshed out some additions the previous version didn't have!

Then, I cleaned up the weight paint, rigged the hair and tail, and tried out some posing to see how it all looked.

Then the sword! I added some basic control rigs for sheathing and unsheathing, tracking the hand to the hilt, and creating motion smears on the sword.

Then, some additional motion smears on the arms and legs! To do this, I created controllers on each of the limbs that follow the base IK systems, then can be detached to drag the geometry out.

A basic test of the smear animations in motion! Looks pretty neat, and will look even better when stacked with other trail effects.

Then, a close-up on the facial rigging. I think it really demonstrates the progress I've made in modeling and rigging. She looks a ton more natural and expressive.

And lastly, some shader and outline tests. Trying to see if this custom comic-style dithering effect I came up with would look good.

And here she is! Already nearly ready to rock! Gonna port her into Quixel Mixer and see what fun materials I can make, and fine tune her to look even better.
